Belsay Hall held their nerve to come from behind and pip Croquet Durham for the Division 1 title on net games for their first win in the competition's history. The tie breaker process used by the CA starts with "who beat whom", however I wanted an incentive for clubs to field their strongest sides throughout the league programme rather than rely on beating their nearest rivals with a strong side and scraping through against the perceived weaker sides. Fortunately, this was stipulated in the rules at the start of the season and also followed on from the principle established by the previous League Manager.

Naturally, the summer's weather played havoc with the fixture list with the last game not being played until September 30th.

Division 2

1Belsay Hall 321024.520.55
2Tyneside 320131.522.54
3Alnwick 311128263
4Bamburgh 300315300

Belsay Hall also finished top of Division 2, although the results were never the raison d'être for this competition. Belsay's record included one game that was abandoned because of heavy rain. Despite best efforts to replay the match, Bamburgh were unable to field a team before the end of the season. A win was therefore awarded to Belsay, but the final score was given as 6-3 and not extrapolated to 12-6. Despite this, Belsay still held off Tyneside's challenge to triumph by one point. Belsay declined to apply for promotion to Division 1.

The aim of encouraging new clubs and new players seems to have been a success with everyone reporting that they had enjoyed the opportunity to play outside their clubs.
